Government of Sindh P&D Department Jobs 2026 – Chief Economist (MP Scale-I) Required

The Planning & Development Department (P&DD) of the Government of Sindh has the mandated role of planning & development in the province. The department also deals with foreign aid through donor ministries, processes all development schemes, programs, and proposals, and makes recommendations to the government thereon. It also monitors the progress and evaluation of development schemes, and maintains liaison with National Planning Agencies, ministries, departments, and donors.

P&DD invites applications from suitable individuals for the post of Chief Economist, P&DD. The position will be filled strictly on merit, in a transparent manner.

Position Details

Post: Chief Economist (MP Scale-I) Number of Posts: 01

Required Qualification/Experience:

PhD in Economics from an HEC-recognized university, with 08 years’ professional experience in planning, analysis, and managing data for projects/programs (working experience with World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and donor agencies shall be a plus point).

Master’s Degree in Economics from an HEC-recognized university, with 12 years’ experience in planning, analysis, and managing data for projects/programs (working experience with World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and donor agencies shall be a plus point).

Job Description

To analyze and make recommendations on important economic policies and programmes.
To get data collected and analyzed for the use of aid-giving agencies, economic appraisement, and evaluations.
To identify the causes of delay and difficulties, if any, in the implementation of projects, and to promote specific solutions.
Helping administrative departments in seeking foreign aid/assistance for development schemes, etc., through the Economic Affairs Division.
Coordinating foreign training/study tours, etc., in collaboration with the Economic Affairs Division.
Coordinate all development activities in the province and act as a catalyst.
To attend CDWP/ECNEC meetings at Islamabad, representing the Chairman, P&D Board.
To attend special assignments received from the Chairman, P&D Board, and Chief Economist, P&D.
To supervise the work of the following sections: (i) Foreign Aid, (ii) Appraisal, (iii) Bureau of Statistics.
Any other task assigned by the department.

Requirements

The individual should not be above 62 years (to be calculated as on the closing date of submission of applications).
The successful individual will be offered a remuneration/pay package of a Management Position (MP Scale-II), as per the Sindh Management Position Scales Policy, 2022, notified vide Notification No. SOH(SGA&CD)6-32/2021, dated 29.12.2022.
The initial contract period will be for two (02) years, extendable subject to satisfactory performance evaluation and recommendation by the head of department, and approval of the Chief Minister Sindh.

No TA/DA will be admissible. Only eligible/shortlisted candidates, in accordance with the guidelines enunciated in SGA&CD’s Notification No. SOII(SGA&CD)6-32/2021, dated 29.12.2022, will be called for test/interviews.
